SUDEP Aware is a Canadian charity, founded in 2008 and run by dedicated volunteers based in Toronto.

ur mission is to promote knowledge and understanding of Sudden, Unexplained Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) through:
  • EDUCATION
    of professional and lay communities to enhance SUDEP awareness and ensure early, accurate identification of SUDEP deaths.

  • RESEARCH
    to understand the causes, risk factors and possible prevention strategies for SUDEP.

  • SUPPORT
    for those affected by SUDEP, via collaboration with support agencies, other families and health care professionals.

  • Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at University of Toronto
  • President of the Canadian Pediatric Epilepsy Network (CPEN)
  • Secretary-Treasurer of the Canadian League Against Epilepsy (CLAE)
  • Member of the Partners Against Mortality in Epilepsy (PAME) Steering Committee
  • Reported on the largest cohort of paediatric SUDEP cases whilst investigating SUDEP in children in Ontario, in 2001
